Dr. Geevarghese is exploring neurocognitive dysfunction after liver transplantation using formal neuropsychological testing to characterize the epidemiology of this frequent post-transplant complication and to discern the role of risk factors such as delirium or pre-transplant encephalopathy. He is also using functional MRI arterial spin labeling to characterize anatomic and functional changes within the brain in the setting of post-tranplant neurocognitive dysfunction.

As director of the Vanderbilt Transplant Clinical Trial Office, Dr. Geevarghese is the principal investigator or co-investigator on numerous industry-sponsored clinical research projects designed to improve long-term outcomes for organ transplant recipients. Among the sponsors of this research are Roche, MediGene, Genzyme and Novartis. The studies range from drug-impact to evaluation of metrics and dosages.
