The PRO Employee Protection surveillance project is sponsored by the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL), a research center of the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH), a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Principal Investigator of the project is Mary Yarbrough, MD, MPH, Director of Health and Wellness at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Our aim is to recruit 15-20 acute care centers in the United States and collect data about their supply and effective use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The equipment selection is currently based on the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) ensemble. The PRO system is adaptable to other PPE ensembles related to hazardous special pathogens.
