The Adult Float pool is one of the largest units in Vanderbilt, comprised of highly-skilled nursing staff on all levels: RNs, LPNs, CarePartners, and MAs. These floaters are trained to supplement the staffing needs of units in either the Medical Center Adult Hospital or the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network clinics.
Vanderbilt Medical Center Adult Hospital is a 834 bed medical/surgical facility. VUMC is the only Level I Trauma Center and the only Level 1 Burn Center in the Middle Tennessee Region. The Adult Float Pool specializes in patient care across the adult acute and adult critical care continuum. We have a broad clinical and practical knowledge base and excel in critical thinking skills.
There are also 187 clinics across the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network (VHAN )providing services to over 172 counties. The VHAN is the largest provider-organized network of doctors, regional health systems, and other health providers in Tennessee and seven surrounding states. The float pool provides covering staff that offer a broad understanding of clinic flow and workstations accross the VHAN.
In 2013-2014 VUMC provided service to 1.6 million patient visits, 35,852 surgical procedures, 64,639 emergency room visits, and 4,225 Life Flight transports.
