The Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology/Division of Comparative Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is accepting applications for a Veterinary Resident in Laboratory Animal Medicine, available July 1, 2018.


  • Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree prior to starting the program.
  • Applicants must have graduated from an AVMA-accredited institution, or hold a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (EGFVG) certificate, or have completed the Program for Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE).
  • All applicants must have a strong interest in pursuing a career in Laboratory Animal Medicine and biomedical research.
    Vanderbilts Laboratory Animal Medicine Residency Program participates in the Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program (VIRMP) overseen by the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians (AAVC). Details on the matching process are described in detail on the VIRMP site (

Applicants must rank in order of preference all programs in which they have an interest. It is essential to understand that if you rank a program and you match with that program you are obligated to accept the position. You should not rank a program if you are not willing to accept a position.

February 12, 2018
