What does the future hold?
Vanderbilt is moving toward a paperless environment.
Work is being done to consolidate, build electronically, and eliminate paper documents. Epic is the future.
Why do we have to submit a form?
All VUMC documents are required to contain Vanderbilt identifiers, doc type naming, an assigned doc ID number and a barcode. VMR Forms is responsible for assigning this information. Documents that have not gone through this submission and approval process will not be entered into the medical record.
How will I find my form?
Paper forms will be retrieved from MedEx with a patient and doc type specific barcode. Once the document is signed, it will be scanned back into OnBase. The barcode allows accurate indexing for faster availability in Epic.
Who determines what the final destination of my form will be?
VMR Forms and the newly created approval committees will help guide your document in the appropriate direction. Some forms will be created natively in Epic, others will be designed electronically and some will remain in paper format.
